Alexander Richard O'Connell

eight, appears twentyish. student. civilians. child pb is freddie boath. adult pb is your choice.
Alex was born into a family that consisted of his mother Evelyn, an Egyptologist and librarian, his father Rick O’Connell, a former member of the French Foreign Legion, and his uncle Jonathan Carnahan, a treasure-seeker. Unlike most boys his age, Alex was interested in spending most of his free time at museums and reading books rather than being at home. He was completely unaware on how his parents met when he put on the Bracelet of Anubis shortly after their homecoming from Egypt. He was shown the first step of the way to Ahm Shere, and after his father and Ardeth Bey rescued his mother from the cultists determined to resurrect Imhotep, he too was kidnapped. He was forced to lead the cultists to Ahm Shere in order to remove the bracelet from his wrist, but he was rescued by his family once they arrived at Ahm Shere. With his knowledge of Ancient Egyptian, he aided his mother by resurrecting her shortly after she was murdered by Anck-su-namun.

After his first encounter with the undead, Alex returned to his studies, but along with the rest of his family, he was introduced to yet another adventure three months later. This adventure involved the Amulets of Karawan, and due to his parents agreeing to partake in it, he was dragged along as well. When he entered Hamunaptra for the first time, he touched a hand-winged artifact and fell through a trapdoor. He fell unconscious, and he was visited by the Egyptian God Horus through this predicament. Horus told him that they had been waiting for him, and that he would become the destroyer of the amulets in order to restore balance to the world. Twelve would be taken from him, and on the twelfth day of the twelfth month he must choose. When he had awoken from his slumber, he found that he was no longer a child, but an adult in his early twenties. Alex must now learn how to be an adult, and through this he discovers that it isn’t just fun and games. He seems to have made friends with the Djed chieftain’s wife, Tuya, much to his mother’s displeasure.

Anck-su-namun

three thousand. appears twentyish. concubine/millionaire. ancients. pb is patricia velásquez.
Back in ancient times Anck-su-namun was Pharaoh Seti I’s concubine and no other man was allowed to touch her. After having gained the pharaohs trust, she was granted the ability to see the name of the building that the Amulet of Setesh was located in, and what room it resided in. Years later upon gaining mentorship of the Princess Nefertiri in martial combat, Anck-su-namun was requested to duel against the princess in front of the royal court. She defeated the princess, and gained the position of the pharaoh’s bodyguard. She was also to become his fiancé, but later that evening, Anck-su-namun and Imhotep developed a plan to assassinate the pharaoh. They managed to succeed, but unknowingly to them, Princess Nefertiri was watching from afar and alerted the Medjai. She committed suicide rather than face the consequences.

She was reincarnated three thousand years later as Meela Nais, a millionaire, and she also attempted to resurrect Imhotep from his grave in order to travel to Ahm Shere. After the defeat of the Scorpion King, and as the debris fell from the pyramid, Anck-su-namun refused to aid Imhotep from falling into a pit of hell. She was resurrected three months later by the reincarnation of Pharaoh Seti I, the chieftain of the Djed in order to help aid in the search for the amulets. She now wears the Amulet of Khaldun in order to appear human and to not be harmed.

Ardeth Bey

thirty-seven. chieftain/warrior. medjai. oded fehr.
In 1923 Ardeth and his unit observed a battle at Hamunaptra. Although his unit did not partake in it, it was decided to allow one man to live that dared to trespass, as they thought the desert would have killed him. But in 1926 when he learned that another band of foreigners arrived at Hamunaptra, it was decided to eliminate the trespassers. He along with his unit attacked Rick O’Connell, the Americans and Egyptologists, advising them to leave the city or die. The confrontation ended after Rick brandished him a stick of dynamite and they retreated. But when Evelyn had resurrected Imhotep from his grave and the band requested assistance from Dr. Terrance Bay, it was revealed that Dr. Terrance alerted the Medjai of their intrusion. It was also revealed that they were part of a secret organization known as the Medjai, a Bedouin clan that was sworn to protect Hamunaptra, and make sure that Imhotep was never resurrected.

Although he aided the O’Connell’s in the rescue of Evelyn, he did not partake in killing the Creature as he fought off an Imhotep’s mummified priests. He made it out alive, and in 1933 he aided the O’Connell’s in rescuing their son Alex from the cult that resurrected Imhotep. He took part in the Battle of Ahm Shere as he led the Medjai into battle, and although they succeeded, many warriors were lost. Three months later when he was observing Hamunaptra, it became peculiar that it appeared as it once did three thousand years ago. Later, Meti, a Djed spy associated with the Medjai, notified Ardeth of the amulets return. Ardeth traveled to London England in order to alert the O’Connell’s, and introduced them to the amulet race due to the decreasing numbers of Medjai warriors and allies. When they were to enter Hamunaptra in order to search for the Amulet of Khaldun, he fought alongside Rory and Evelyn in their battle against the Djed. Although Evelyn was kidnapped and Rick was not available to aid, he set off to rescue Evelyn himself from the Djed. He succeeded, but it became clear that Evelyn was not herself, and that Nefertiri resided within her.

The two battled and his knee became injured, and a few weeks after the confrontation, he entered the Djed camp in order to abduct Tuya after a confrontation with Sutekh.

Evelyn O'Connell / Princess Nefertiri

thirty-three. egyptologist and head curator of the british museum. scholars. pb is rachel weisz.
Considered to be one of the many leaders in Egyptology of modern times, Evelyn O’Connell is the head curator of the British Museum, as well as the daughter of Howard Carnahan, the founder of Tutankhamun’s tomb. In 1926 when her brother Jonathan Carnahan borrowed a puzzle box containing the map to Hamunaptra, Evelyn took it to the curator of Cairo Museum of Antiquities where she was employed as a librarian. She then sought to find Rick O’Connell, who was held in Cairo prison, and managed to free him after making a deal with the warden. She, her brother, the warden and Rick O’Connell traveled to Hamunaptra, and it was her party that discovered Imhotep’s sarcophagus. That evening she borrowed the Book of the Dead from Dr. Chamberlin, the original founder of the Book of the Dead, and read an incantation that brought Imhotep back to life. She was chosen as his sacrifice to bring back Anck-su-namun, which later had many dangers, and after finally agreeing to become Anck-su-namun’s sacrifice, she was taken by Imhotep and tied to an altar. She was rescued by Rick and Jonathan, and after aiding her brother Jonathan in interpreting the Book of Amun Ra, they managed to kill Imhotep.

Eight years later she is seen married to Rick O’Connell, and with a son named Alex, and appears to be having visions of the past. With these dreams and visions, Evelyn found the Bracelet of Anubis at a temple in Thebes, and when they returned home, she fought alongside Ardeth Bey in order to defeat the cultists who were after the bracelet. She failed, and was knocked unconscious and almost killed after the resurrection of Imhotep, if it wasn’t for Rick who had saved her. Later in the films, she learned that she was the reincarnation of the Princess Nefertiri, who was the daughter of Pharaoh Seti I and Queen Tuya, elder sibling to Ramesses II, and a student of Anck-su-namun. She was also the sole witness of the assassination of her father. When they reached Ahm Shere, Evelyn fought with her brother on the mountaintops, and when they traveled to the pyramid, she was murdered by Anck-su-namun, to which later her son resurrected her using the Book of the Dead. She challenged Anck-su-namun to a duel, and although she was about to win, she rushed to the Scorpion King’s chambers to watch her battle and hang on the edge of the pit leading to hell, and rescued him despite the falling debris.

In current times, Evelyn has once again been having visions of the past, but of Nefertiri’s childhood. She manages to convince her family to partake in the race for the Amulets of Karawan, despite her husband’s disapproval. At Hamunaptra she managed to save Ardeth Bey from being killed by Sutekh, but was kidnapped by him in the end and taken to the Djed campsite. She battled against Anck-su-namun again, and although she lost, she was resurrected by Sutekh using the Book of the Dead. Several hours later, a ritual was performed in order to bring back Nefertiri from the grave in her body. The ritual had mixed results as it was incomplete thanks to the rescue of Ardeth Bey, and instead of one person living in Evelyn’s body, there were two. Distraught from the loss of her husband and her son’s current state, Evelyn traveled into the desert where she met Imhotep, and made a deal that granted her the location of Rick, but as an unknown consequence, she would see Imhotep as an ally and not an enemy. The Medjai however, would become both Evelyn’s and Nefertiri’s enemies, and her previous adventures were either erased or altered to Imhotep’s choosing.

As equivalent to the amulet legend, Evelyn is capable of seeing what city the amulet is located in.

Imhotep

three thousand. former high priest of osiris. ancients. pb is arnold vosloo.
Formerly known as the High Priest of Osiris, Imhotep was known for having an affair with Pharaoh Seti I’s concubine, Anck-su-namun. However, he managed to gain Seti’s trust and became one of the keys to finding the Amulet of Setesh; he is capable of seeing the country it is located in. Years after, he plotted with Anck-su-namun on the assassination of Seti in order for their love to continue. Although unknowingly to them, Nefertiri was watching from afar and alerted Seti’s sacred bodyguards, the Medjai. His priests forced him to flee and he watched Anck-su-namun commit suicide. Determined to resurrect her, forty days after the incident Imhotep removed Anck-su-namun from her crypt and read an incantation from the Book of the Dead in order to resurrect her, but was found by the Medjai and was later to endure the worst of all ancient Egyptian curses, the Hom Dai.

Three thousand years later, Imhotep was accidentally resurrected by Evelyn, and attempted to use her as a host to bring back his love, Anck-su-namun, but ultimately failed as they sent his soul back to the Underworld. Eight years later in the Year of the Scorpion, 1933, he was resurrected again by a cult that was accompanied by Anck-su-namun’s reincarnation, Meela Nais. As they journeyed to Ahm Shere, he brought Anck-su-namun’s soul back from the Underworld and placed it inside Meela’s body, and at the same time, Evelyn became aware of whom she was in the past. When they reached Ahm Shere, Imhotep awoke the Scorpion King by banging on a gong, and before he made an appearance, dueled against Rick and they both competed against one another to defeat the Scorpion King. He however, lost, and as Ahm Shere began to evaporate, he fell into a pit that led to hell, and was left to die after having called out to Anck-su-namun.

Now, three months later, his body was brought back from the Underworld by Set and was placed in its original location, locked in a sarcophagus and all. He was resurrected by the re-embodiment of Pharaoh Seti I and was advised by Imenand to act as his once faithful courtier. He participated in the ritual that brought Nefertiri back from the Underworld as he tried to send her back but failed. One night after travelling into the desert and meeting up with Evelyn, her host, he made a deal with her. He was to tell her of Rick's location, but as part of the deal (unknowingly to Evelyn) he would erase and alter her memories to his own satisfaction and made her think that she and Nefertiri was an ally of his.

Izzy Buttons

Izzy Buttons was the source of transportation when the O'Connell's traveled to the Oasis of Ahm Shere in search of their son, Alex. He seems to have an uncanny habit of complaining about getting shot in the ass and has an interest in gold; however, other than the information stated in the Mummy Returns, little is known about Izzy's life. His celebrity is Shaun Parkes.

Jonathan Carnahan

thirty-seven. odd jobs. civilians. pb is john hannah.
Although Jonathan is the typical bystander and comic relief character Jonathan has quite the interest in treasure. He may call himself an Egyptologist, while others call him a petty thief, or even someone who is leeching off of his sister and brother-in-law for a living. He, like Rick, was against going on this expedition as he considers his sister and brother-in-law to be "mummy magnets," but it was soon decided that he would go along probably to be Alex's babysitter. It should be noted that Jonathan does have quite the skill in firearms and has a big interest in alcohol.

Pharaoh Seti I / Sutekh Khai Marenaser

thirty-three. chieftain. djed. pb is chirs cornell.
Three thousand years ago, Sutekh went under the alias of Pharaoh Seti I and was married to Queen Tuya, and had two children: Nefertiri and Ramessess. He was responsible for the creation of the Amulets of Karawan, as he requested them to be made by the Egyptian God, Set. Years after the incident with the amulets, Seti requested both his daughter and Anck-su-namun to duel. He praised the prowess of both woman and announced that he would intend to marry Anck-su-namun. That same evening, he paid a visit to Anck-su-namun at her chambers but was assassinated by both Anck-su-namun and Imhotep.

Reincarnated amongst the Djed as chieftain along with his former Great Royal Wife Tuya, the ancestral enemies of the Medjai due to Set, he unknowingly married her through an arranged marriage. Throughout his youth, he had visions of his past life as Seti I, although they were quite vague and he only recalled the name of one woman named Nefertiri. In the Year of the Scorpion, 1933, when the Amulets of Karawan would resurface, he resurrected both Imhotep and Anck-su-namun without being aware of their treason. When he found out that the Medjai were at Hamunaptra, he battled against Evelyn, while Ardeth and Rory fought against the Djed and he, Tuya, and Evelyn would share a vision of the past. He then intended to kidnap Evelyn and succeeded after realizing who she was.

Meanwhile, he also plotted on resurrecting Nefertiri in the body of Evelyn, after having discovered that Tuya was kidnapped by the Medjai. When Ardeth came to Evelyn’s rescue, he let her go, but intended to retrieve her after a letter was sent by Nefertiri stating where they were headed. Just before the heroes and the Medjai were to head for Ireland, Ardeth and Sutekh dueled as Sutekh attempted to teach Tuya how to use a sword. He lost and Tuya was abducted by the Medjai and taken to Ireland. He is now plotting his revenge against the Medjai for Tuya’s capture.

Rick O'Connell

thirty-four. adventurer. medjai. pb is brendan frasier.
Formerly enlisted as a Corporal in the French Foreign Legion, Rick led his unit to Hamunaptra and fought inline against the Tuareg warriors. Managing to make it out alive, Rick caught his first glimpse of the Medjai while trekking back to Cairo. He was put in jail for abandoning the legion, and he was listed to be hanged. After a visit from Evelyn and Jonathan, whom requested information about the key that Jonathan retrieved from him, he was taken to be hanged. Evelyn managed to convince the warden to release him, and she offered him 25% of Hamunaptra’s findings. He was released and he showed them the way to Hamunaptra in return. When Evelyn accidentally resurrected Imhotep from his grave, he at first refused to aid them in helping kill Imhotep.

Rick was finally convinced to aid them further after Evelyn became more involved in the affair, and he aided in the rescue of Evelyn when she was taken to Hamunaptra by Imhotep. He managed to kill Imhotep after an incantation from the Book of the Amun Ra was read, and with the rescue successful, he and Evelyn married sometime after and had a son named Alex. Eight years later after exploring a temple in Egypt and finding the Bracelet of Anubis, he and Jonathan teamed up in order to get away from the cultists. They managed to succeed, but Evelyn was already abducted, and they came face to face with Ardeth Bey. After rescuing Evelyn and fighting mummies on a bus ride, Alex was kidnapped and they raced across the desert in search for clues left behind by Alex in order to find him. They made it to Ahm Shere, and he managed to rescue his son, but at the cost of Evelyn’s murder. He entered the golden pyramid and fought against Imhotep, the Scorpion King, and he ultimately succeeded.

Three months later, Rick decided to enjoy the time off from fighting the undead, but was convinced by his wife to partake in the Amulets of Karawan race. When they were at Hamunaptra, he was the first of the O’Connell’s to discover his son’s rapid growth spurt, and he promised to teach him how to be a man, and how to use guns. He managed to find the Amulet of Setesh at the Medjai campsite, but unfortunately was teleported to Ireland after he found it. He trekked the Ring of Kerry, was thrown into jail for starting a fight, and managed to meet up with the heroes and Medjai shortly after their arrival as Evelyn found him.
